Jelani Robert Clay known as JClay, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, spiritual teacher, and philosopher from Chicago, Illinois. The band's early release of Quarter To A Half Mixtape through its independent record label Pink Slip Records earned the group a grassroots fan base being featured on numerous mixtapes. In 2010, the success of 5th Flow's single "IM ON IT!" earned the group a merchandise deal with Shiekh Shoes in the store's Texas locations. After 5th Flow and Pink Slip Records dissolved in 2013, JClay and Supreme formed the rap duo 1st and independent record label The Slip Records. During that time, JClay and The Slip Records released a number of mixtapes and an 89-episode freestyle rap series called "Go With It Mondays" that featured new freestyles every Monday. In 2019, JClay released "Let Go" with the aim of healing those with mental illness. "Let Go" was produced by platinum producer Majestic Drama and featured on numerous Christian rap and mental health communities. Today the legacy of The Real Group is maintained and further developed by worldwide concert tours, recordings, educational mentoring and published scores. The Singers Clara Fornander I grew up in the South of Sweden surrounded by music through participating in choirs and orchestras.After high-school I began to focus on jazz and song-writing and eventually moved to Stockholm where I studied my jazz bachelor at the Royal College of Music. I’ve always loved singing with other people – both a cappella and with different kinds of bands. The last few years I’ve been freelancing in a wide range of contexts and constellations. Now I am extremely happy to be a part of The Real Group and to have the chance to contribute and learn from my fellow group members. Joanné Nugas I was first introduced to choir music at the age of seven when I joined Vårby Gård Children’s Choir. This led to studies at Adolf Fredriks School of Music a few years later, where all the original members of The Real Group attended primary school. I remembered that the group were (and still are) icons, and now it feels so surreal to be one of the new members. I then continued to study vocal performance at Rytmus Musikergymnasiet, and since 2012 I have been freelancing as a singer and I’ve sung with many prominent Swedish artists. Today I’m active in genres like soul, pop, jazz and R’n’B. Alongside this I give vocal and piano lessons. Johannes Rückert Becker I’ve been an enthusiast of vocal music for quite some time and was quick to leave the woods of Småland to dive deeper into the field of a cappella music. I then ended up on Liljeholmens Folkhögskola, studying vocal group singing and my interest skyrocketed! To be a part of The Real Group is truly a dream come true! I’ve been living in Malmö for the past decade where I’ve also studied to become a voice teacher/choir conductor. Since then I’ve worked at a number of different schools specializing in pop, jazz and musical theatre. Alongside teaching, I’ve been making music around the Øresund region and have had the pleasure of singing in the international vocal group Touché. Axel Berntzon I am from Värmdö and I have played music all my life. I started out in a choir at the age of two and have since then studied a plethora of different instruments and have found myself in many disparate musical situations, playing anything from bass steelpans in a calypso band to harmonica with blues bands. I have always had a big passion for vocal music and my biggest inspiration is the group Lambert, Hendricks and Ross. I am really excited to get to be a part of The Real Group, they are sort of childhood heroes of mine!During my vocal studies in high school I took up trumpet and later attended the jazz trumpet program at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. With the group expected to be a success and fame imminent, the exciting, newfangled sound that she has made her own is certain to gain interest from across the world.The development of her unique style is the result of a lifetime of musical influence. Growing up in a talented musical family meant that different forms of music always surrounded Denise. Her mother was a full-time Danny and the Bluebirds and Robinson Uniques ballad and Gospel singer with various bands, and her parents exposed her to a wealth of music as a child, all of which influenced her development. Her first foray into learning how to stack voice began with two sisters on a local Detroit street, Farnsworth it came when he started to sing at the age of 9 years old. Later she began to sing at local churches, funerals, and school shows, which she continued with for four years before finally picking up the flute and Modern Dance at the age of 13, a decision which she never looked back from. As her confidence grew and her style developed, she soon saw a loyal following begin to grow and she became a popular locally with singing with the Robinson Unique, Gilmore Brothers, Enflyte, Visions of Harmony (own group) and David Myles and the Mylestones, granted auditions with Phase 5 in the Detroit. Her talent with a musical instrument only added to her appeal, and her unique sound with a twist started to find an appreciative audience.Here her musical ambitions continued to grow, aided by the sounds of Detroit and that she found all around her. Although traditional Detroit music is where Denise’s roots lie, and there was plenty on offer in Detroit.She is keen to point out that everything she listens to directs her musical development in some way. However, she would certainly include Whitney Houston, Donny Hathaway, Luther Vandross, Anita Baker, Teena Marie and Regina Belle as amongst his biggest influences. Finally, after honing her unique sound over recent years, she has now released “Denise Davis” which underlies the dynamic sophicated voices of harmony and beauty at its best.
