I got started in stand-up comedy by getting fired from all of the other jobs I’ve worked at. There’s only so many times you can hear “We’re letting you go” before it feels like you’re a lucky trout on one of those fishing shows. So, I started making jokes about it. The world is full of material. Everything in life has the potential to be funny with the right perspective. I’ve always loved comedy and attention so stand-up was a logical pursuit.

Born in Brooklyn of Guyanese descent, at the tender age of ten years old Buc started to tell funny stories to his family. Most of them were made up and a lot derived from the creativity he found in comic books. The love for funny storytelling transcended into stand-up comedy while serving the past eighteen years for the United States Navy. Buc has not only found his passion while serving his country, but through Buctown productions thousands have been entertained by stand-up comedy.

I am an up and coming comedian from St. Louis, MO, working in the Atlanta area. My comedy covers a variety of topics that we all deal with in our daily struggles, and my energetic delivery offers clever content with plenty of punchlines. I currently perform in urban and mainstream comedy clubs, churches and various other venues. I am also the producer and host of two monthly shows in the Atlanta area: The Eat, Drink, Laugh Comedy Show at Uptown Comedy Corner and Soulful Sunday’s Clean Comedy Show at Atlanta Comedy Theater.

Joel Byars is an award-winning comedian, podcaster, and Trophy Husband. His unique clean comedy style has helped him win both the Kenan Thompson Comedy Contest and Search for the One Competition. Both of these events seek out the top clean comedians in the country. Beyond the stage, Joel has been a writer for Comedy Central, The Weather Channel, and even the author of his own book, Finding Your Funny.
